Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Every October, for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we get involved in recognizing this life changing movement to show solidarity and spread awareness within the community on the most common type of cancer affecting women in Jordan.

This year has been a powerful reminder that we are all in this together; we purchased pink ribbons from the King Hussein Cancer Center to hand out to all our branch staff members to wear throughout the month of October.

Our environmental initiative Plastiqua will also be launching a pink-themed line at Swefieh Village where every item will have 2 JDs added to its initial price and proceeds will go to the King Hussein Cancer Foundation to support underprivileged women in getting free of charge mammograms.

As for extending expert knowledge to our clients, female staff members and other women in our community on the latest advancements related to breast cancer, we’ll be holding an e-lecture on October 13th led by Dr. Layal el Asir, Clinical Director of Women’s Health and Breast Center at Abdali Hospital, where she will tackle the most important issues related to the disease and where she will share evidence based advice on the importance of early detection and overall best practices women need to adhere to look after their health.

We have chosen SDG 3 ‘Good Health and Wellbeing’ from the United Nation’s sustainable development goals as one of the areas that matter the most to our Corporate Social Responsibility Program, and through such activities we hope to play a role in shaping the choices and actions of our community members.
