Hand-in-hand for inclusive education
In the past few years, we’ve witnessed a growth in technology and how it has driven various industries and sectors forward. They have revolutionised the way we work and study- computers and mobile phones are a necessity in our daily lives.
With the shift to distance education and online learning as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, students now more than ever need access to digital devices to help them study from home.
Despite launching a rapid response plan for distance learning, a large number of students lack access to computers and mobile devices. This has led them to face challenges in keeping up with their education, which led to uneven educational opportunities for students across the Kingdom.
The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research launched the national campaign, “Your University is with You”, with the aim to provide computers to every university student to help them overcome the difficulties they face during their distance learning and online exams. In December, Bank al Etihad joined efforts with this initiative by donating 100 laptops to students in need.
The bank distributed the devices directly to university students from various academic disciplines and universities throughout different governorates such as Karak, Salt, Irbid, Zarqa, Aqaba, and Amman. This campaign focused on undergraduates and first-year university students, so that they can utilise their devices throughout their university years to complete their education.
